Fandom Fashion

Let me start off by saying that being yourself is very important in college, everyone honestly wants to fit in with the crowd when everyone was born to stand out. And yes I did get this quote from the hottie from What a Girl Wants. I am a huge Harry Potter, Disney and Glee fan, and before you ask yes I do have clothes from all three fandoms.

When I was a freshman I made my parents buy me clothes from designer brands, and even buy things I was very uncomfortable wearing. After my first mishap with a designer brand I decided to stop being fake, and just be me. I went out to the nearest mall and changed my wardrobe to t-shirts that symbolized my love for the multiple fandoms i enjoyed. It felt more comfortable and more like my old self. After that I enjoyed picking out my clothes for the day, and I also made some friends who love the same things I do.

So in the end, I want all of you to be true to yourself. I’m not saying get rid of all your designer clothes and buy new ones. I’m just saying be happy with your fashion choices, buy a few things that mean a lot to you. Buying that Disney shirt was one of the best things that ever happened to me because I was more comfortable in it and I met tons of people on the street that would stop me and discuss it. I am still friends with some of them and I actually found my best friend that way. So I leave you with a question, If you open your closet will you find a part of you or only the part of you that wants to fit in?

Sincerely, The Tour Guide of FLA
